The Travesty of National Health Care
Posted by jemartynowski on June 19, 2009
Many may think the fight going on right now is just an argument of how our health care system can be better run. It is not. It is the debate over one of the most important turning points in history. The reasoning for this is that government being in control of our health care industry is a justification for tyranny. Understand this: the reason us Constitution defenders are so passionate is that we want a government who cannot control our lives at their whim. Now we have a perfect example why. Here is a quote from columnist and author Mark Steyn about Britain’s National Health Service:
“Under Britain’s National Health Service, for example, smokers in Manchester have been denied treatment for heart disease, and the obese in Suffolk are refused hip and knee replacements. Patricia Hewitt, the British Health Secretary, says that it’s appropriate to decline treatment on the basis of ‘lifestyle choices.'” Steyn adds, “Smokers and the obese may look at their gay neighbor having unprotected sex with multiple partners, and wonder why his ‘lifestyle choices’ get a pass while theirs don’t. But that’s the point: Tyranny is always whimsical.”
We don’t want a government who decides what lifestyle choices we make. I would think those who are so against the mixing of religion and politics, despite being a bit misguided, would understand this more than anyone. However, these are just the people who are for this type of government. Obviously, the American people don’t understand what they are getting themselves into (or can’t go back and fix their mistake). I hope, though, that we are not distracted enough by a suit with a teleprompter so badly that we turn a blind eye to our nation being stolen from us. I’m not holding my breath.
This article makes a good point with a solid quote from an independent organization saying that the only way Obama could promise these things is if here were “king.” Somehow I don’t see the main stream media calling him out for these blatant lies, but maybe because that’s because they think he actually is king.
